Mike Colon: Workshop Giveaway

I have entered to win a scholarship to the Mike Colon Workshop in Honolulu next month. And I need YOUR help to win! All you need to do is go to his blog and cast your vote for yours truly! This is an amazing opportunity that I don't want to miss! What do you get out of this you ask?

To sweeten the deal, and entice you into voting and getting your friends to vote also... here's my proposal: If I win the scholarship, I will be holding my very own giveaway right here on my blog. I will be offering one lucky reader a free photo shoot! Don't live in Hawaii? I'll figure something else out equally as awesome (or we can save it for when I'm in your area)!

VOTE NOW!!! Voting will end at 5pm PST.

And because every post is better with a photo... I leave you with this shot from Valley of the Temples

Mike Adrian Workshop: Oahu

Last month I had the chance to go to a workshop by Mike Adrian. He's an amazing wedding photographer based in Maui. He had so much knowledge to share and I was able to walk away from the workshop knowing that it was totally worth going and that I had gained so much from it! The first 1/2 of the day was spent in the classroom just soaking up everything Mike had to share. After lunch and a little more time in the classroom, we headed outside with a model couple to try out the tips and tricks we had learned. It was such a great experience! Here are a few shots from the day. Enjoy!

We also shot some Black and Whites in camera which was pretty fun! And I like how this one came out.

What a great day filled with learning, shooting, meeting fellow photographers, and building relationships! I'm excited to make some changes and see how I can grow!

Night Photography: Laie Point

The other night was absolutely beautiful out here! The moon was incredibly bright and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get my camera and tripod out to take some long shutter shots! Stuart came along with his guitar either to serenade me or just so he could play LOUD! It's always nice for him to get out of the house with his guitar and play as loud as he wants!

So this is what I got while he was playing.... I LOVE how you can see the stars!
It just makes my heart happy!

Then we played around with making Stuart a little ghostly:

While we were messing around with that, a couple happened to walk out to the end of the point, and stood still long enough for me to get this shot!

Yay for LOVE!!!
And the big beautiful moon!

Jordan: Hawaii Photography

A few weeks back I had the pleasure of meeting up with Jordan and her mom while they were visiting Hawaii. Prior to their trip out here, Jordan's mom contacted me about doing some photos of Jordan for a project they are working on. I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about it so I'll be vague. They wanted some shots to show Jordan and her fitness... This girl is fit! She recently graduated from USC where she played water polo for 4 years! I was 1 year away from being able to play with Jordan in High school and playing against her in college. However, when I would train at home during the summer, it would be with my old high school team so I would be in the water with Jordan. If I remember one thing it would be how incredibly strong she is! Jordan you are looking as fabulous and as fit as ever! I hope you enjoyed your visit!

While this shoot was specifically for Jordan, I couldn't resist getting a shot of the beautiful mother and daughter duo! Aren't they just the cutest!?

Thanks you 2! I'm looking forward to seeing you again!

Wood Wedding: Utah Wedding Photography

Back in August, I had the privilege to shoot my dear friend Jana's wedding! It was an absolutely beautiful day in Utah. Although Jana and Stephen have been around and been able to see photos from their big day, their families and friends have had to be patient in waiting for me to FINALLY post these. I think the best way for me to showcase their wedding day is to show you a few of my favorite spreads from their Album design that I created (Keep in mind that their album is a 12 x 12). Thank you for being patient with me.

To Stephen & Jana: I hope you will cherish these photos and that you will be able to look back on them to remind you of that very special day when your separate lives became one. Thank you for trusting me and believing in my talents as a photographer to capture the beauty of your wedding day. I couldn't be happier for the two of you! You are a beautiful couple and I am so happy to call you my friends!

Kealoha: Honolulu, Hawaii

One of the artists featured in Real Word. was professional poet Kealoha. This was such an awesome shoot! We were on top of a mountain that looked over all on Honolulu. It was such an amazing view and this was a spot that Kealoha would sometimes go to get inspired or get out to write his poetry. I was lucky enough to have my husband Stuart along as my assistant and it was great to have another creative mind right along side me. Towards the end of the shoot we asked Kealoha to recite one of his poems. He has so much energy and animation when he does his poetry and I was able to capture the real Kealoha in his element!

I did this shoot a couple of months ago and was dying to post them but wanted to wait until the mag was available to everyone. Seriously, pick up your very own copy or SUBSCRIBE to this magazine! You'll be able to read a few of Kealoha's poems and they are awesome! Not to mention all of the other talented people featured!

Get Inspired!

Real Word. Hawaii Magazine

Photobucket

Just a few days ago, Real Word. was launched! This is a beautiful new magazine with pages filled with amazing artwork, poetry, and stories. Words and images that inspire people to pursue their dreams and do what they love. It is a magazine about real people and real life.

I was given the chance to do some work for the magazine where I was able to shoot some of those being featured in this inaugural issue. What a great experience it has been to work with this magazine and to be able to see my work gracing many of the pages. And that is what this magazine is about. It gives regular people the chance to get their work out there whether it is a poem they have written, a work of art, an experience they want to share, or a story that they are passionate about. This is a way to get it out there, and Spread the Word.

Click HERE to subscribe and have it sent to your door!
